THE ARTIST | Joel Cameron
Joel Cameron returns to Somerville Sounds for Mallet Drums, bringing his vintage drum collection and a deep ear for recording. His prized kit, including renowned brands like Ludwig, Tama, and Pearl, forms the backbone of the library’s authentic tone, captured through vintage preamps from industry legends like Neve and API as well as his own custom Rascal Audio preamps. For Mallet Drums, Joel played the kit with mallets rather than sticks, drawing out a full, round, warm sound with a deep room character that gives the library its distinctive, cinematic feel.
